Protests are expected Friday following the sentencing of Johannes Mehserle, a former BART security officer who was convicted in the 2009 shooting death of passenger Oscar Grant. Mehserle had alleged during his trial that he mistakenly fired his handgun instead of taser while attempting to subdue a confrontational Grant.  Mehserle was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter earlier this year.

Mehserle was sentenced to two years in jail with 140 days time-served credit.
